As for someone else winning the respective leagues than the usual clubs, I (thankfully) think that we're closer to that. Obviously just by looking at our league table it's clear to see that finally Rosenborg's extreme dominance has come to a partial pause.
I'm having difficulties seeing anyone else than Celtic or Rangers winning in Scotland in near future, simply because of the massive advantages they have on all other teams. Although Rosenborg's advantages on the remaining league clubs here are also very noticable, it goes to prove that anyone can be taken down from the throne.
I guess the main problem for SPL clubs are that they might tend to take some shortcuts (buying expensive, but poor in standard foreigners etc...) in order to make an attempt against the two big ones. It's not good in the long run, and I guess someclubs in Scotland suffer/suffered from this now.
Although I can understand you guys being frustrated with Berti Vogts, I think that he has a very important role in Scotland - being that he has no other option I guess than picking youngsters that normally wouldn't be picked for important fixtures.
I'm not up-to-date on how much the various SPL sides use Scottish youngsters rather than foreigners, but for the sake of Scottish football in the years to come I certainly hope that there are managers willing to give youngsters a chance instead of wasting their talent on the bench or in the reserves.
But what I do know is that the match winner from the Celtic game is only 19 years old, that's a good sign!
As for us, well, we've lost a whole bunch of good players. Too many to mention without having to look through my files first :) But most players can be replaced, the only question is how long time it will go before the newcomers can fill the missing players' positions.
All in all the transfers to and from Brann has worked out well the last year. During the past two seasons we've lost many players and it has taken the same amount of time to build the squad up again to a quality we can be satisfied with.
But especially foreigners coming here in the middle of the season (like Winters and Miller), needs longer time to adapt and needs a good pre-season and a fresh season to prove what they're good for. Hopefully Miller will stay and become what we all hope for next season.
Edit: About stupid rules from the FA on the league, it's the same here. Especially regarding facilities the FA have some strict rules the clubs need to fulfill (x% of last season's att. average must be seats the following season etc..). It's in the least head shaking and at most devestating for the clubs, but the long term objective is to raise the general standard of the league.
At the same time, many of the stupid rules the clubs react with negativity on, are rules the clubs themselves have been a part of making.
